Yanmar Diesel Engine
"Sea Otter" is a superbly
finished, rugged boat that can be sailed anywhere. The boat was responsible for
the early success of the Pacific Seacraft Company and established its reputation
as the builder of seaworthy and well thought-out boats capable of crossing
oceans. This Pacific Seacraft 25 features a hand-laminated hull and deck, with
the hull through-bolted to the deck, bonded and then reinforced with fiberglass
for maximum strength. All interior bulkheads and furniture are securely bonded
to the hull, and the rudder is solidly attached to the hull with custom bronze
gudgeons. Her interior has beautiful joiner work with varnished teak and ash,
and numerous custom features to maximize living space. The mast is deck stepped
and set up so that two or three people can step and unstep the mast in the
water. The boat has undergone an extensive refit - the Yanmar diesel engine was
completely rebuilt in 2006, and the boat is equipped with new running and
standing rigging, new sails and canvas, new stainless steel chain plates, new
Awlgrip paint and numerous other improvements. This boat not only sails
beautifully but is a work of art!
Interior
The interior of the Sea Otter is beautifully finished with traditional
wainscoting on the bulkheads and varnished teak and ash. She has teak
cabinets and trim throughout, a fold-down teak dining table, and custom
louvered doors. Varnished ash strips line the ceiling and shelves in the
cabins. Because the boat was designed for cruising, she has the storage
of a much larger boat as well as an extra-large v-berth sleeping area.
Polished bronze elliptical opening ports provide superior light and
ventilation. Recent upgrades include new 6" Temperfoam mattresses and
Sunbrella upholstery throughout.

Galley
The galley has teak counters and cabinets, a stainless steel sink with fresh
water foot pump, and traditional Taylor 029 kerosene stove with brass trim.
It is located under the main hatch so there is full head room available for
the cook. A microwave oven was also added in 2007.
|
Plumbing
New bronze through hulls and ball valves were installed throughout the boat
in 2003. A new marine head and holding tank with y-valve were also installed
at that time. The boat is equipped with two bilge pumps, a Whale Gusher 25
in the cockpit and an electric bilge pump in the engine room.
|
Sails And Canvas
The boat has a cruising-quality mainsail with three sets of reef points and
triple-stitched seams and a 120% furling genoa, both constructed in 2002. A
staysail, stormsail and cruising spinnaker are included. A dodger, new in
2002, and a sun awning, mosquito netting and cockpit side curtains make for
comfortable living in any conditions.
|
Electrical System
The Sea Otter has a Weems and Plath compass, a Brooks and Gatehouse
speed/log and depth finder, a Standard Horizon VHF, and Autohelm autopilot.
All circuits are protected by circuit breakers and a Link 20 monitor is
available. She is protected from lightening by a ground plate. A new 1500
watt Pro-Sine inverter with (2) outlets was new in 2007, along with a 380 AH
gel battery, shore power connection, battery charger, and interior LED
lighting.
